Education Program
Investing in the Next Generation.
MRVGPA's hybrid education program pairs in-person instruction with online resources to give Mon Valley students real access to curriculum, mentorship, and career pathways.
How It Works
A Hybrid Program Built for Mon Valley Students
We designed this program around the reality of life in a small Mon Valley town: not every family has easy access to advanced coursework, mentorship, or career guidance. Our hybrid model combines in-person sessions at MRVGPA facilities with a self-paced online curriculum, so students can learn on a schedule that works for them, with support from mentors who know the community.
Curriculum
What Students Learn
Academic Foundations
Core coursework in math, reading, and science designed to reinforce and extend what students learn in school, with one-on-one tutoring support.
Skills & Trades Training
Hands-on instruction in practical trade skills — including construction basics learned directly from our renovation project — building real-world competency.
Digital Literacy
Computer fundamentals, online research, and the digital tools students need for modern coursework and future careers.
Career Pathways
Guided exploration of career and post-secondary options, with mentorship from local professionals in trades, business, and civic service.
Mentorship
Learning From People Who Know Monessen
Every student in the program is paired with a community mentor — a local professional, tradesperson, or civic leader who volunteers their time. Mentors meet regularly with students to talk through coursework, career questions, and next steps, giving students a real connection to opportunity right here in the Mon Valley.
